Why a proper goal setting is important
So, you want to lose some pounds of body weight, boost your earnings or maybe you want to get rid of a bad habit like smoking, don’t you?
Then I have bad news for you – only 8% of people complete their New Year’s resolutions.
But don’t worry. If you use this guide properly you can’t fail.
How to Set your main goals.
The biggest mistake that most people make when they decide to change something on January 1st is that they set goals like “I will lose weight”, “I will boost my earnings”
The proper form of those goals should be i.e. “I will lose 20 pounds until June 1st “
First and foremost you have to be relaxed and in good mood when you set your goals.
Goals have to be:
-measurable
Example of correct sentence: “I will help others selflessly once a week”
-specific
Example of wrong sentence: “I will lose weight”
Example of correct sentence: “I will lose 20 pounds until June 1st”
-realistic
Example of wrong sentence: “I will lose 60 pounds in 1 week”
Example of correct sentence: “I will lose 20 pounds in 3 months” (Depends on how much you weigh now)
-attractive
Example of wrong sentence: “I will boost my earnings by 10$ in 3 months”
Example of correct sentence: “I will boost my earnings by 2000$ in 3 months”
You have to look at these goals every day.
How to set your micro goals.
Set mini goals every month.
i.e. your goal is to lose 20 pounds in 3 months.
Then you set yourself a goal that you will lose 7 pounds in the first month, then next 7 pounds and 6pounds on the third month.
Next you have to do some research. Choose one of these options:
-Find a person that provides valuable information that helped many people solve similar problems to yours. You can find those on Youtube, blogs etc.
-Read some books. You can buy cheap ebooks on amazon.
Now when you know what you have to do. Prepare for your journey:
-buy the equipment you need
-write down each thing you have to do and how many times per week to achieve your goal
(example: run for 25 minutes 3 times per week)
-write down each thing you have to give up/limit and how many times per week to achieve your goal
(example: avoid junk food for 6 days in each week)
Summary
Although goal setting takes quite a lot of time it is worth it. You will save a lot of time afterwards. You will also have everything set up. Just put some effort in completing these tasks and avoid temptations and you’ll get what you want.
Good luck in achieving your goals!
